Congratulations to my student Jennifer Chen, who at 14 years of age, has recently been awarded her AMusA diploma (Associate in Music, Australia) from the Australian Music Examinations Board. A very impressive achievement indeed. Another piece of great news is that my adult student Paula Wong has been accepted into the Brisbane Army Reserve Band, after a successful audition. Prior to that my youngest student, Chelsea Dunn won the First Challenge (for beginner flute players of AMEB grade 1 – 2 standard) at the Queensland Flute Challenge.
Brijette Tubb, who has had such a wonderful year of flute playing, became a Finalist once again at the James Carson Flute Prize for the Queensland Champion Flautist. She played magnificently in the finals. The competition was won by my former student Hannah Reardon-Smith. I taught Hannah when she was a school student in Toowoomba, before she commenced her studies at the Conservatorium. The other two finalists were Emily Smith (who I coach at the Conservatorium in “Flutter”, the multi-award winning flute quartet) and Sophie Weston, who was once in my tutorials during the MOST camp. It was an incredible joy to realize that all finalists either were current students, or were former students of mine at some stage.
Some other students, Zoe Wright and Corinne Edgeworth have been involved this weekend in the State Honours Ensemble Programme (SHEP) at the Queensland Conservatorium.
Last, but not least, I’ve put together a new website for the Logan Summer Music Workshops:
